Photography FAQ

+ Do I need to purchase a permit to take portrait photos (Family, maternity, and engagement photos) at Agritopia Farm?

Personal photos may be taken in public areas, although in exchange we request that you support the local businesses by purchasing items from them. All others must pay a site fee. If you are a photographer being paid in cash or barter for the photos, you must pay a site fee. If you are bringing professional equipment on site, or you are using the photographs you are taking here to support your online business (including but not limited to social media influencers) you are expected to act as professionals and pay a site fee. This includes photographers for whom photography is not their primary source of income. Please see further in our policy for other stipulations regarding online businesses that would require you to purchase a permit.

+ Do I need to purchase a permit for videography, drones, or commercial shoots at Agritopia Farm?

Photography sessions (including but not limited to online businesses and social media influencers) and videographers for catalogues, magazines, commercials, shows and the like for either personal use or wide distribution pay a site fee. The fee varies based on the needs for the shoot. Please contact the Farm Director, Katie Critchley in order to discuss the scope of your project to determine the fee.

+ Why do you charge a permit fee?

This environment is something that the business owners and operators take pride in on a daily basis. The Farm staff and additional outside contractors spend numerous hours, and a significant amount of money for organically maintaining this property every week.

+ What areas are off limits?

The orchard area is completely off limits! We only allow photographers in to the orchard area with a special permit on select days. The row crop fields surrounded by the white fencing are off limits. Both of these areas are designated private property with signs. Please be respectful that this is a working farm and not all areas are desginated for use by photographers.

+ What areas can I take pictures in?

All public areas are available for photography sessions. This includes the walking paths, the Community Garden (please stay on the path in the Community Garden and do not go into the individual plots). The common areas around the business are available, but please be aware of others and respectful they will be using the space as well.

+ Can I take pictures in the business around the Agritopia Farm?

Please contact the individual businesses to inquire about their policies and availability.

+ What time can I come and take pictures at the farm?

You can come to the farm from sunup to sundown for your photo shoots.

+ What can I bring as far as props?

We do not allow any sort of props for photography sessions. This includes but is not limited to: furniture, stationary backdrops, balloons, confetti, bird seed, cakes/"cake smash" props, and flower petals. These items often get left behind, become a nuisance to others, or do not meet our strict organic standards that we must adhere to maintain our certified organic status. The only extra items we allow photographers to bring in are a small wagon to carry equipment, and a small stool is ok as long as all of these items are easily portable.

+ How do you purchase a special orchard permit?

We have select days that we release a limited amount of Orchard permits for photographers to hold their mini sessions. Go here to be added to our photographer email list, and stay tuned to our social media for permit release dates.

+ Can I take my wedding portraits at the Farm?

Congratulations! We are an exclusive wedding venue and carry a list of preferred wedding photographers. For this reason we do not allow outside wedding shoots on the farm unless you are having your wedding hosted here. A wedding shoot would be defined as a couple clearly dressed in wedding attire having their picture taken.

+ Are pets allowed on the farm?

We ask that all dogs that are brought to the farm are kept on a leash and stay out of the areas that are specifically marked regarding pets. Pets are not allowed in the community garden or the orchard. Pets are allowed leashed in the common areas and walking paths.
